Evelyn's Baby Quilt

My sweet friend who takes all my family photos was having a baby girl so she came over and we picked out some colors to match her nursery. We were going for a very soft look. 

I have wanted to do the single girl patter for a while, but when my friend Amber had a paper pieced version, I new it would be perfect! Since its small, it came together pretty quick and I love how it turned out. 

 But I think I love the back just as much. 

I used mostly HR mendocino prints, princess and the pean, LH pearl bracelets and some things from the stash. The background is cream and Kona Ash, as well as the back and the binding is a plaid from Momo, Its a Hoot. I hope she loves it, it should be at her house by the time she is home from the hospital!

EZ Dresden Challenge

I actually came through with a deadline. Barely. 

Our SLMQG was hosting a dresden challenge and so I decided to participate. (in the mini category, come on, its me)

 I love circles but they are hard so I decied to go for it. I really like how it turned out and am so glad I was up for the challenge. If anything, I learned more than I wanted to know about piecing curved pieces. Now it can hang on my wall and I can admire it!

A little closer. 

I like orange. And pink. And yellow. Especially together. 

Wahoo! its done!

January Bee Blocks

January was filled mostly with bee blocks. 

Here are the 6 I made, 

 And the 6 I recieved. 

I am still figuring out what I want to make this round, but so far I love how mine are coming together, I had a fabulous group!

 Then a couple squares for Amber in my local bee and that is about it! Now to keep sewing!!!

Tree Skirt

After I finished the stockings, I of course had have a matching quilted tree skirt. 

I used the tutorial from crazymomquilts and I love how it turned out. 

This is the only picture I had of it complete though before I packed it up after Christmas, but who minds a cute baby?

I had a lot of good scraps so I just started laying them out.

 Then making squares, 

 Then piecing the blocks, 

Then sewing it all together, 

 And the hardest part was cutting a hole in the middle of my quilt!

This was actually my first log cabin style quilt, so I can check that off my list!

Stockings Completed!

I had to make one extra stocking for the baby, and then I made 5 more for my sister. I think her set turned out way better than mine, but I love them all. Especially the hexies, though they take forever!

WIP Wednesday

So much to work on! Still plugging away on Christmas stockings. 3 left to finish now (yay, hexies are done!) so I made some progress on hst's at our Sewing Saturday for the SLMQG, so hopefully I can have those done in the next week. That is my goal. And then I realized I want a tree skirt to be finished by the time I get my tree, not Christmas. Going to have to start that soon!

I've started kicking around some things to do for 4X5 bee. This is my first quarter and I know I want herringbone-ish so this is a start. Still trying to decide if I want to sash it or what. Or start over and make them match up. We shall see!

Post Summit Swap

Amylouwho is doing a miniquilt party and since I did my first mini quilt for the post summit swap, I decided to add it to the bunch!

I have to admit it was easier than I thought to actually make, but harder to plan out. With such a little space, you really want it to shine. I wasn’t thrilled with how it turned out, a little too busy than I would have like, but overall it was great practice and now hopefully I can get some little mini’s up all over my sewing room!

My partner mentioned some colors she liked so I went with brown and lime green and made some cute wonky stars and they are so cute and easy to make!

 I also wanted to try out machine binding again and my first run did not go so fabulous, but this time was great! No unpicking and no missed it on the back (I pinned ALOT this time)
